This course is offered to young athletes between the ages of 12 and 17. The purpose of the course is to provide biathlon participants in the Eastern Sierra entry level competence in firearms safety, range procedures and marksmanship in preparation for participation in the biathlon. The course will emphasize safety over all other concerns; accordingly, any horseplay or safety violations will result in exclusion from the course.
Targets, ammunition and biathlon style .22lr rifles will be provided. Class size is limited and preference will be given to athletes who are members of the local school Nordic teams and the Mammoth Mountain Ski Team. Parent participation is welcome.
