2014 Race Announcer

GORDY JOHNSON is recognized as one of the world’s most talented and experienced announcers.  From humble beginnings as a junior racer at Mammoth Mountain, Gordy was soon a top ranked competitor, instructor, coach and National Demo Team Member.  After nearly 4000 days on the mountain, he discovered snowboarding!  Gordy took to snowboarding with a renewed passion.  This led to announcing the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City, UT.  After that, ESPN offered Gordy a job as CoHost for coverage of the National Championships which led to a 15 year globe trotting tour to major snowboarding, surf, ski and mountain bike competitions around the globe.  Besides snowboarding and skiing, Gordy is an active participant in mountain biking, surfing, paddling and cross country skiing.

This explains his lifelong mission statement, “Do what you love, and love what you do”.
